I Miss My Brother
Me and Samson were best friends. We would fight sometimes, but we always loved each other. We played hockey, basketball, and a bunch of other things. He loved to drive me in his car and loved to drift in the snow. We loved skating on the pond in the backyard. We always played games together. Since he didn’t have a mic to talk through, he FaceTimed me, and we would sit on the call for hours just playing games.
I remember in an old house, Sam got his first Xbox console. It was winter, so we had a snow day, and we found a Batman game that we loved. We played for hours and made a fort. We also had homemade popsicles, so we made root beer popsicles, Dr. Pepper, and Sprite ones. We loved playing knee hockey in the basement, and we would play for so long. We loved to bike around and explore together. He showed me some of his friends' houses, and I started laughing because there were so many. People loved him.
I remember Sam wanted me to play this game with him, but we couldn’t play together. So, we put my TV in his room so we could play and listen to music. I loved the way he took care of everything—his car was so nice. He treated it well and made it smell good. He tried to put as much stuff in it as he could to make it faster. He loved the sound of it; it sounded like a race car because it was so loud. He texted me one day, saying, “Tell me when you hear my car, I’m pulling into the neighborhood,” and I heard it just as he entered—that’s how loud it was. He loved his car, and so did I. We have so many memories in it. He would pick me up from school sometimes, and we’d go straight to the car wash, and I’d help him clean it. He loved having it clean.
One night, he got new stuff for inside his car, and he wanted to show me. He came into my room and said, “Gabe, let’s go for a ride,” and I said, “Okay.” So, he drove me to the gas station, but it was closed. We went to a different one, and he got me something. After that, we just went to random places. We saw three cops and got scared, so we went back home and played Xbox together. I always remember making forts with him. He was the best at making forts. I think I got it from him. We would make forts anywhere—in the woods, in trees, and even in the cornfields close to our house. And we loved making snow forts. He was the best!
We made such good snow forts that they could fit both of us together. When we made them, it took about seven hours of hard work. When we finished, we would get snacks and drinks, bring them out, and watch movies on his phone. We put our drinks in the snow to keep them cold, and one time they turned into slushies. We were so happy! We had slushies, even though it was pretty cold, but we had a bunch of clothes on to keep warm.
Samson loved to fish, like loved to fish. We have a pond in our backyard, and he used to fish there all the time. But he fished so much that it got overfished, so we couldn’t anymore. Then we found a new spot that was awesome for fishing. We also found a place that could be a fort, so we made one. It had a bench, a roof, and chairs made out of sticks and long grass.
He loved hunting too. We stayed at our grandpa’s house once, and we slept in a tent. We woke up in the middle of the night with flashlights and saw a huge deer. We got scared at first, but then we went back to sleep because we didn’t want to scare it or hurt it.
I have so many more memories with my big brother Samson. Love you, buddy.
